52 beneficiaries finished Standard Drywall and Ceiling System Installation Training

A total of 52 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in Calaca, Batangas finished the two-day Standard Drywall and Ceiling System Installation Training last March 22-23 conducted in Brgy. Matipok of the said town.

This training is part of the partnership of the DSWD through its Field Office IV-A and the Knauf Gypsum Philippines, Inc. aimed at helping improve the living condition of the 4Ps households through the provision of appropriate employable skills to members of the 4Ps households. This partnership was formalized by the two agencies through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement last November 21, 2022.

Knauf is a manufacturer of construction materials and operates the Knauf Academy, which provides training to improve the technical qualifications and employability of skilled workers and students in the field of drywall construction.

The training program is being offered to all 4Ps beneficiaries in Calaca who are at least 18 years old and willing to enhance their skills for better employment opportunities. Priority, however, is given to 4Ps households who have members who need to acquire more employable skills and be productive members in helping improve their family’s economic status.

Monina Daño, 46, a 4Ps beneficiary who recently completed the training is grateful for the skills she acquired.

“Kung may kukumpunihin sa bahay ay may kaalaman na din ako dahil dito sa training,” shared Daño, a farmer, who, despite being a woman, has been very interested in finishing the training to help her family.

After finishing the training, the Knauf will assist the beneficiaries to gain employment along the construction industry, or the beneficiaries themselves may pursue jobs on their own in the locality.

This training is the second batch of skills training conducted by the Knauf Academy in Calaca. Last November 2022, 33 4Ps beneficiaries attended the same training. A third batch of the training is being set this June 2023.# [with reports from DPAMapacpac]***
