For the year 2018, the Department of Social Welfare and Development conducted a total of 18 public biddings, worth Php145,581,622.19 for the procurement and construction projects in the four residential centers it manages in the Calabarzon Region.

Based on the report of DSWD Field Office IV-A, the projects were implemented in the following centers: the Haven for the Elderly in Tanay, Rizal, the National Training School for Boys (NTSB) also in Tanay, Rizal, the Bahay Tuluyan ng mga Bata (Home for Girls) in Dasmariñas City, Cavite and the Regional Haven in Rosario, Batangas.

In NTSB, the projects the construction of a residential cottage, the expansion and improvement of infirmary, the improvement of the seven-classroom school building and the construction of powerhouse and electrical system, while in the Haven for the Elderly, the completed bidding were for the construction of two-storey building, the expansion and improvement of the administrative building, the construction of a residential cottage, the expansion and improvement of infirmary, and the expansion and improvement of central kitchen. The construction of a two-storey building each for Bahay Tuluyan ng mga Bata and the Haven for Women and Girls were also among the projects.

Aside from the said construction projects in the centers, the bidding for the procurement of the following were also completed during the year:  hospital bed and stretcher for the use of Haven for the Elderly; foodstuff and non-perishable goods of NTSB and Haven for the Elderly for the period of 2nd Semester of 2018 and 1st semester of 2019; security services for 2019; and manpower service for 2019.

According to DSWD Field Office IV-A Regional Director Annie E. Mendoza, the conduct of these public biddings were done in accordance to the existing policies as cited under the Government Procurement Reform Act.  These constructions, she adds, are all necessary so as to ensure improved conditions and continuous delivery of services to our clients in the said centers.
