Sixteen residents of the National Training School for Boys (NTSB) in Tanay, Rizal has completed junior high school from Jose Fabella Memorial School (JFMS).

The NTSB, a residential institution managed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office IV-A, caters to children-in-conflict with the law (CICLs). It provides protection and parental care to CICLs to help them through rehabilitation in a residential setting and prepare them for successful adjustment with their family and community after discharge.

The said residents are the first batch of junior high school completers since K-12 was implemented. A moving up ceremony, with the theme “Kabataang mula sa K-12 Tagapagdala ng Kaunlaran sa Bansang Pilipinas,” was conducted last March 11, 2016 and attended by the completers, their parents, teachers and staff of the NTSB.

Teacher-in-Charge Roel Velasco of JFMS congratulated the boys for all their efforts to learn and stay in school despite their situations.

Hayde Dinglasa, NTSB center head, shared her pride of the residents and emphasized to the boys that their education will help them get better lives, especially after their discharge in the center.

Further, she said to the completers to not forget the values they learned from the NTSB and the school in dealing with their families and communities outside the center.

The first honor of the class (name may not be disclosed), in his message during the ceremony, thanked the JFMS teachers and NTSB staff for the opportunity provided to CICLs like them to continue their studies.# with reports from ECBelmonte
