DSWD HONORS PARTNERS, STAFF DURING 64TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) acknowledges all partners and staff in for the implementation of its different programs and services for the vulnerable sectors, particularly in improving the living condition of poor families in the CALABARZON Region, during the DSWD Field Office IV-A’s celebration of the Department’s 64th anniversary last February 16-17.

DSWD IV-A Regional Director Leticia T. Diokno, who presented the accomplishments of the DSWD in the region for the previous year, shared the agency’s appreciation to all the stakeholders for their hard work and continuous support.

“All the accomplishments of the region are attained through the continuous support of our partner-stakeholders, which include the local government units (LGUs), other national government agencies (NGAs), non-government organizations (NGOs) and civil society organizations (CSOs). We are also acknowledging the hard work of all the staff in the region in their effort to provide services to those who are greatly in need,” Dir. Diokno shared in her message.

According to Dir. Diokno, of the 417,670 poor households in the region identified under the Listahanan targeting system assessment in 2009, the DSWD has served 324,128 families under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program alone. Further, she shared that majority of these poor families have been provided access to at least two social protection programs such as DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), Kalahi-CIDSS, Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens and Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) and other programs of different NGAs, CSOs, NGOs and LGUs.

 

Partners, staff cited

Notable agencies were given Salamat Po Awards for their assistance to the Department’s delivery of services.

Included in the awardees are the Philippine Basketball Association for annually donating shoes and toiletries for the residents of the National Training School for Boys; Gardenia Bakeries Philippines, Inc. for donating loaves of bread for affected families during disasters; SALAG Inc. for providing free legal consultations to clients of the Bahay Tuluyan Home for Girls, and; E. Zobel Foundation for replicating different programs of the DSWD such as Social Pension, SLP and SFP and supporting Pantawid Pamilya through provision of livelihood trainings and donation of school buildings and books for the children.

The DSWD also cited partner LGUs such as Tagaytay City (Model LGU Implementing DSWD Projects); Tanauan City, Batangas (Model LGU Supporting People’s Organizations); Quezon Province and Gen. Trias, Cavite (Model LGUs Supporting Day Care Services); Alabat, Quezon (Model LGU Implementing Kalahi-CIDSS), and; Cuenca, Batangas (Gawad Listahanan).

Also given recognition are employees who have rendered service with excellence and those who showed commitment through their years of loyalty to the agency.

 

Everyone’s accomplishment

DSWD Undersecretary Parisya H. Taradji, who was the guest speaker during the celebration, shared that in behalf of DSWD Secretary Corazon Juliano-Soliman, the DSWD salutes all partners and staff for their committed and dedicated work in supporting the agency fulfill its mandate of helping the less fortunate families and communities in the region.

“These programs and services are not only DSWD’s, and all the achievements are not only ours. They’re everybody’s programs and everyone’s accomplishment. Let us all continuously join hands in serving the most disadvantaged,” Undersecretary Taradji shared.#
