PANTAWID BENES GET WORK UNDER DSWD, AYALA FOUNDATION PARTNERSHIP

At least 320 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in Calauan, Laguna Province benefit from the Cash for Building Livelihood Assets (CBLA) under the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in partnership with Ayala Foundation.

The said beneficiaries are among the 3,500 families who were relocated in 2009 due to Typhoon Ondoy in Brgy Southville 4 in the said town.

The CBLA is a communication mobilization strategy in developing physical and natural assets to increase the livelihood gains in the locality and also engage the participants in short-term income generating activities to help them meet their daily needs.

Under the CBLA, the beneficiaries are provided 10-day employment with a wage of Php272.00 per day starting from November 18. The work will require the beneficiaries to clear the six-hectare property of the Ayala Foundation in Brgy. Dayap. The said property is a potential socio-economic hub, which will help generate more employment in the municipality once established.

The SLP is a community-based capacity building program that engages participants in micro-enterprise development or links them to gainful employment to help them improve their socio-economic status. Its priority participants are members of the Pantawid Pamilya households to provide them opportunities to meet their family’s basic needs and achieve self-sufficiency. (with reports from AJVFormento & DKATañedo)***
