At least 5,000 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in Dasmariñas City, Cavite gathered in a nationwide celebration of the National Family Day last September 28. The said celebration is led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in partnership with the local government unit (LGU) of Dasmariñas City.

With the theme “Pamilyang Pilipino para sa Pagbabago: Tumatawid sa Kaunlaran,” the National Family Day is a celebration of the Filipino family, especially the family-beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilya program who have become empowered and been equipped with strengths, skills and capacities to push forward for a brighter future with the help of the different DSWD programs.

During the celebration, the agency acknowledged the Ayad Family of Brgy. Victoria Reyes in the city as this year’s regional winner of the Search for Huwarang Pantawid Pamilya 2014. The said family is also awarded 4th runner-up in the search in the national level.

“Given the right opportunities, poor families can also step up and achieve positive developments in their lives,” stressed DSWD IV-A Regional Director Leticia T. Diokno.

Dir. Diokno also thanked the different partner-agencies and LGUs for their convergence of services, thus ensuring that poor families will be given opportunities to improve their lives.

The National Family Day celebration also launched the Pantawid Pamilya para sa Pagbabago campaign, which is part of the Kaya Ko ang Pagbabago information campaign, that highlights the positive change brought by the different DSWD programs in the lives of the beneficiaries.***
