DLSU-Antipolo Students hold outreach program in NTSB

Students from De La Salle University-Antipolo City recently visited the National Training School for Boys (NTSB) in Tanay, Rizal to conduct an out-reach program with the residents of the institution.

The outreach program, which was conducted in 2 batches, was participated by 86 Grade IX students of the said school. The said students interacted with 41 High School student-residents of NTSB.  Among the activities conducted during the visit are sharing of stories, peer counselling and parlor games.

The residents of NTSB are children ages 15 to 18 years old who are in conflict with the law (CICL).  They are provided 24 hours rehabilitation services in NTSB, a facility managed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.  The services provided to them all are geared towards their rehabilitation and eventual reintegration to their respective families and communities.

Among the services being provided to the residents are on education, health or medical, homelife, psycho-social, recreational and spiritual.  Outreach programs such as this are considered as part of recreational and psycho-social services and are considered vital in the overall rehabilitation of the CICLs.

We are always grateful to visitors such as the DLSU-Antipolo student for taking time to talk and share stories with our residents.  The time spent listening to the stories of our boys, accepting them as they are and the friendship that was established even for just a short period of time go a long way in the rehabilitation of the boys here.  We hope that you would again visit us here,” shared Hayde G. Dinglasa, OIC head social worker of NTSB.with reports from HGDinglasa***
