They may had their misfortunes, bad experiences and misdemeanor, but they certainly do not lack energy and talent.

The residents of the National Training School for Boys (NTSB) showcased their talents and their love for the Filipino language and culture during the celebration of the Buwan ng Wika conducted by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, in coordination with the Jose Fabella Memorial School (JFMS), last August 28, 2014.

Under the theme FILIPINO: Wika ng Pagkakaisa, the half day celebration was highlighted with contests on tula, talumpati, balagtasan, sabayang bigkas and sabayang awit.  The said contests were participated by the students from all grade levels, particularly the boys-residents of the institution.

The NTSB is a DSWD-managed residential institution that provides rehabilitative care to boys age 15 to 18 years who are in conflict with the law.  The said residents are provided with services that are geared towards preparing for their eventual reintegration to their respective families and communities.  Among these services are case management, homelife, health, socio-cultural, recreational and educational.

The JFMS, on the other hand, is the educational institution located inside the NTSB compound in Brgy Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal, and provide education services primarily to the center residents.

According to Ms Haydee G. Dinglasa, the officer-in-charge of NTSB, the celebration was meaningful to the residents as it serves as venue to instill the importance of using our own language, respect to our culture and provide opportunity for the boys to share their talents and gain more self confidence in the long run.***
