At least 200 child-beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in Bay, Laguna are taught good moral and values through a three-day children summer activity (CSA) initiated by GoDucate, a civil society organization (CSO) partner of the DSWD in the CALABARZON Region. The said children are age 7 to 11 years old who completed the activity from April 14 to 16.

GoDucate, a non-profit organization, provides education and livelihood opportunities to people who have no access to such privileges. Recently, the said organization signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the DSWD for the facilitation of Family Development Sessions (FDS) in the locality.

The FDS is a component of the Pantawid program that teaches various family development topics to parent-grantees such as husband-and-wife relationships, child’s rights and financial management. The FDS is facilitated once a month and is one of the program conditions to beneficiaries prior to the release of cash grants.

The CSA is a counterpart of the regular FDS and is intended for children to promote good moral and spirituality among them. The module contains various activities such as games, singing and craft-making among others.

Since the school year ended, the organization has conducted two CSAs in barangays Masaya and Sto. Domingo here.

“Nag-eenjoy ang mga bata at marami silang natututunan dito,” shared Elisa Hitosis, a parent-beneficiary whose 9-year-old daughter, Ryza Mae, completed the activity.

She added that the values learned from the activity are important for children like Ryza Mae to guide them while growing up.

Towards the rest of the summer vacation, GoDucate is targeting more than 1,500 other child-beneficiaries of the program in six barangays here. With reports from YPLopez UPLB ***
