July 08, 2025 – A total of 250 residents of the town of Maragondon in Cavite are set to start expanding disaster-resilient community projects in various locations across town. This is after these residents completed the cash-for-training from July 2-4, 2025 under the DSWD’s Project LAWA at BINHI.

The said training is the first stage of the Project LAWA at BINHI process where all the residents are capacitated to implement community projects addressing or mitigating the impact of climate change in their communities.

After completion of the training, the residents will move to the second phase of the program, which involves the completion of 11 cash-for-work projects including the expansion of existing communal vegetable gardens and rehabilitation of fish ponds.

The Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) capacitates and engages residents in developing and sustaining projects that would help address food insecurity and water insufficiency in their communities while also helping them to have a temporary source of income for their families.

Other than the establishment of community projects, the DSWD, through the Project LAWA at BINHI. also capacitates the residents on disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation and mitigation. [with reports from ALSamsoden]
