July 04, 2025 – Residents of Panukulan, Quezon completed a training session to aid in the establishment of community projects that would help mitigate the effects of climate change in their communities. From June 25-28, 2025, a total of 500 residents attended this training under the DSWD’s Risk Resiliency Program thru Project LAWA at BINHI.

The Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) capacitates and engages residents in developing and sustaining projects that would help address food insecurity and water insufficiency in their communities.

The residents, from the 13 barangays of the said town, are set to start various community projects such as the construction of a pump and deep well and establishment of communal gardens, which will also use vermicomposting.

At the end of their engagement with the program, all the residents will receive cash assistance from the DSWD to help them support their immediate needs.

Meanwhile, the local government of Panukulan is closely monitoring and supporting the implementation of these projects to ensure the success and sustainability of these projects. [with reports from ABCastro]
