June 26, 2025 – The local government units of the towns of San Luis, Taal, and Tingloy, Batangas expressed strengthened support to ensure the sustainability of 44 Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) associations in their respective localities. During the Pre-Usbong Conference last June 19-20, the DSWD Field Office IV-A and these LGUs committed to work together for the continuous monitoring and provision of assistance to these associations.

These SLP associations were organized by the DSWD and provided with various capacity-building interventions to help them prepare and manage their chosen microenterprises. These associations, 18 from San Luis, six from Taal, and 20 from Tingloy, have been operating their group enterprises for a year already.

According to Alvin Libao, provincial coordinator of the SLP in Batangas, the commitment of the LGUs to support the associations would be a big help to guide the microenterprises towards sustainability.

Included in the commitments provided by the LGUs are the formation of technical working groups for the monitoring of associations, provision of free business registration assistance and capacity building activities, and linkage-building with local partners for product development, mentorship, and funding.

The SLP is a program implemented by the DSWD that helps increase the capacities of qualified individuals and families to improve their socio-economic conditions through capacity building and livelihood support. [with reports from AJLibao]
