June 19, 2025 – This school year, 550,398 children in the CALABARZON Region are benefitting from the educational support provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
Of this number, 168,918 are from Quezon; 140,738 are from Batangas; and, 100,016 are from Cavite. Meanwhile, 77,008 and 63,718 are from Rizal and Laguna respectively.
These children, aged 3-18 years old, are currently enrolled in pre-school, elementary, junior high school, and senior high school.
As part of the support on education of the 4Ps, all these children are being monitored by the DSWD and the Department of Education for their monthly attendance to school. Each monitored child must achieve at least 85 percent attendance monthly before they can receive their educational grants.
The grants received by compliant children vary depending on their grade level. Those who are in pre-school and elementary school receive PhP 300 per month while those in junior high school receive PhP 500 per month. Children enrolled in senior high school receive PHP 700 monthly. A household-beneficiary, however, can only only receive grants for up to three children only.
“Ngayong kabilang kami sa 4Ps ay nasisiguro namin na kumpleto ang gamit ng aming mga anak ngayong pasukan, hindi na katulad ng dati. Malaking bagay din ito para sa aking mga anak dahil napakasaya nila at excited silang pumasok,” shared Meshel Torres, a 4Ps beneficiary from Brgy. Talisay in Sto. Tomas City, Batangas.
Other than school supplies, the beneficiaries are expected to use these grants to support the educational needs of their children, including daily allowances, transportation, and projects, throughout the year.
Meanwhile, more than the cash grants, the DSWD also advocates for the importance of the education of children through the monthly family development sessions.
“Ang pag-aaral ay isa sa mga karapatan ng mga bata upang mas mapaunlad ang kanilang personalidad at kakayahan. Kung kaya’t kaakibat nito ang responsibilidad ng mga bata at mga magulang para sa pag-aaral,” said Greatchin Salazar from Brgy. Sapac, Lipa City.
The 4Ps, institutionalized through the Republic Act 11310, is a human capital development program that invests in the education, health, and nutrition of zero to 18 years old children from eligible poor households. Aside from the provision of conditional health and educational grants, part of the program is the provision of other interventions to help household-beneficiaries improve their living conditions and attain self-sufficiency.#
