Selected residents of the Haven for the Elderly will soon begin conducting storytelling sessions with children for the pilot implementation of the Apo Ko: K’wento ni Lolo’t Lola, Gabay ng Kabataan Project (Apo Ko Project), which was launched by the DSWD at the said facility in Tanay, Rizal last February 20.
The Apo Ko Project aims to establish relationships with older persons residing in the DSWD centers and residential care facilities with children, aged four to five years old attending early childhood care services. Through storytelling sessions, the older persons may also be provided opportunities to instill values to the children based on their experiences.
The Haven for the Elderly is a facility managed by the DSWD Field Office IV-A providing residential care services to senior citizens who are abandoned, neglected, abused, and/or unattached.
Aside from the older persons at the Haven for the Elderly, the residents of the Golden Reception and Action Center, a facility managed by the DSWD National Capital Region, will also participate in this project. [with reports from BACastelo]
