The DSWD, through its Field Office IV-A, delivered milk supplies to the island municipalities of Patnanungan, Panukulan, Burdeos, and Polillo, Quezon last July 9. The said supplies will be used for the implementation of the Milk Feeding Program, which will benefit 400 children in the said municipalities starting August 2024.

The Milk Feeding Program is a component of the DSWD’s Supplementary Feeding Program that prioritizes undernourished children through the partnership with the National Dairy Authority and the Philippine Carabao Center.

Other than the 4 municipalities, there are 33 other local government units that are targeted to implement this program.

According to Carol Mae Martinez, Nutritionist-Dietician of the DSWD Field Office IV-A, the delivery of the milk supplies for the island municipalities was conducted ahead of the start date of the implementation to ensure that the supplies are available to the children, especially during the monsoon season.

The milk supplies, which are packed in aluminum stand-out retortable pouches, have eight months of shelf life at room temperature. [with reports from CMPMartinez]
