Victims of Typhoon Glenda in Quezon Province have received emergency shelter assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through its Field Office IV-A. The said assistance was provided to affected families whose house had been totally damaged during the occurrence of the said disaster last July 2014.

As of August 3, 2015, the DSWD has released a total of Php5 Million as shelter assistance for 500 families in the municipalities of Agdangan, General Luna and Macalelon in the said province.

Each beneficiary received a total of PhP10,000 as shelter assistance.

The ESA provides cash grants to families whose houses are either totally damaged or partially damaged due to the occurrence of disaster. Beneficiaries are determined through the local government units, particularly the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, who have assessed the families and the extent of damage to their shelter units.

Besides the said number of families, the DSWD will be releasing ESA to at least 5,000 affected families in Quezon whose houses had either been totally or partially damaged because of the typhoon. Those families with totally damaged houses will receive Php10,000 assistance while those with partially damaged houses will receive Php5,000 assistance.

The said assistance to these families will cost a total of PhP34 Million and will be distributed to the beneficiaries within the year.#
