The Olivar Family, a resident of Brgy. Medicion 2E, Imus City, Cavite, dreams of sending all five children to college. However, Tatay Benigno’s income as a seasonal construction worker is not enough to support even the basic needs at home. Even if Nanay Virgie, 45, earns Php500 at most per week providing manicure and pedicure services in the neighborhood, they still struggle financially.
Their being a beneficiary of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program in 2012 provided the whole family new hope. According to Nanay Virgie, the cash grants they receive from the program allowed the family to support the educational needs of their children as well as providing nutritious foods for the children. Further, she shared that the Family Development Sessions as helped her realize her duties as a mother especially in taking good care of her family and the right of her children to education.
“Kaya ko ngayon na gabayan ang aking mga anak at patapusin sila sa pag-aaral dahil sa tulong ng Pantawid,” shared Nanay Virgie.# (with reports from MEMCastelo)
