August 05, 2025 – A total of 150 residents of Taysan, Batangas received cash assistance from the DSWD last July 31, 2025 for completing community projects addressing food insecurity and water insufficiency in their localities.

The cash assistance, amounting to PhP 10,400 each, is part of the cash-for-training and cash-for-work scheme of the DSWD’s Risk Resiliency Program thru Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished).

All the residents engaged in a 20-day program that includes training on disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation and mitigation and establishment of community projects such as communal vegetable gardens.

“Nagpapasalamat ako sa DSWD at sa LGU dahil napasali ako sa programang ito. Bukod sa marami akong natutunan ay nakakakuha pa ako ng cash assistance na makatatutulong sa gastusin ng aming pamilya lalo na para sa dalawa kong maliliit n anak,” shared Cerila Antenor, 34, a resident of Brgy. Mapulo.

The Project LAWA at BINHI capacitates and engages residents in developing and sustaining projects that would help address food insecurity and water insufficiency in their communities. The program is implemented through a cash-for-training and cash-for-work scheme to also help residents gain a temporary source of income for their families. [with reports from JSEspinosa]
