July 17, 2025 – The local government of San Antonio, Quezon capacitated a total of 40 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) in the said town on household and community-based food production last July 9-11, 2025. This initiative aims to promote food security and improve the nutritional status of 4Ps families, particularly those with children aged zero to five.
According to Abegail Iloco, 4Ps Municipal Link in the said town, the local government targeted the beneficiaries of the 4Ps so that they will be able to provide nutritious food to their children and prevent illnesses, which are among the root causes of poor living conditions in the locality.
In the said activity, the 4Ps beneficiaries were introduced to various gardening skills and environment-friendly farming practices, including recycling.
“Ang akin pong natutunan ay magagamit ko sa aming pang-araw-araw na pamumuhay katulad na lamang po ng paggawa ng organic na fertilizer para sa aming mga pananim,” shared Angelica Morete, one of the beneficiaries who attended the session.
Iloco added that other than promoting food security in 4Ps households, this may also open opportunities for the beneficiaries to cut down expenses on food and also earn additional income.
The said activity was facilitated and funded by the local government’s health and agricultural offices. [with reports from AMIloco]
