July 08, 2025 – The DSWD Field Office IV-A assessed 647 senior citizens in the municipalities of Pila and Majayjay, Laguna last July 1 and 2 respectively.

The said senior citizens, 293 from Pila and 354 from Majayjay, are potential beneficiaries of the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens Program of the DSWD.

The said assessment is part of the program process to check the eligibility of the senior citizens to be beneficiaries of the program and ensure that only qualified senior citizens are included in the program.

“Prior to the validation, we oriented the senior citizens of the program’s processes and qualifications. We clarified that they will not be automatically included as program beneficiaries once they apply to their LGUs,” shared Sharez Mae Diaz, the xxxx of the DSWD and one of the validators.

To be included in the program, various eligibility requirements are assessed by the DSWD including the senior citizens’ physical and medical conditions, source of income, and support from relatives or pension from any institution.

Those who are qualified based on the assessment will be ‘waitlisted,’ which means that they will not immediately receive the pension and will only be included in the program once there are new slots available at their respective LGUs.##
