June 16, 2025 – Five hundred (500) residents of Sampaloc, Quezon received PhP 5.2 Million cash assistance last June 11, 2025 as part of their participation in the completion of climate change adaptation and mitigation projects in their communities under the DSWD’s Risk Resiliency Program thru Project LAWA at BINHI.
For 20 days, these residents had been engaged with the program, which included training on disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation and mitigation as well as preparation of community projects addressing food insecurity and water scarcity.
In exchange for their participation, the residents received PhP 10,400 each.
The Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) capacitates and engages residents in cash-for-training and work activities to develop and sustain projects that would help address food insecurity and water insufficiency in their communities. This also provides the residents a temporary source of income, which they can use for the immediate needs of their families. [with reports from JLGBajar]
