June 25, 2025 – The DSWD, through its Field Office IV-A, capacitated 250 residents of Ternate, Cavite towards building climate-resilient communities. From June 18-20, 2025, these residents underwent a training to prepare them to start community projects addressing food insecurity and water insufficiency as part of the implementation of the DSWD’s Risk Resiliency Program thru Project LAWA at BINHI.

The said training included topics on disaster preparedness, climate change awareness, urban and peri-urban farming among others.

As a result of the training, the residents, with the assistance of the local government unit, are set to start five community projects that include establishing two oyster farms, two communal vegetable gardens, and one fishpond.

The Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) is a program of the DSWD that uses the cash-for-training and cash-for-work schemes to capacitate and engage residents in developing and sustaining projects that would help address food insecurity and water insufficiency in their communities.
