June 10, 2025 – A total of 3,400 residents of 17 coastal barangays of Gumaca, Quezon were capacitated by the DSWD towards building disaster-resilient communities through a three-day training conducted from June 3-5, 2025.

The said training is part of the DSWD’s initiatives in capacitating communities to adapt to and mitigate the effects of climate change in their communities through the food-for-training scheme. Included in the topics introduced and discussed during the training are disaster preparedness, waste management, and climate-smart agriculture.

After the completion of the training, participants received family food packs containing rice, canned goods, and other basic items that the residents may use to support the immediate needs of their respective families. [with reports from CLSDuran]
