June 24, 2025 – Three hundred (300) residents of Angono, Rizal pledged to continuously work together to ensure the sustainability of their completed community projects under the DSWD’s Risk Resiliency Program thru Project LAWA at BINHI. Last June 19, 2025, during the turnover ceremony, the residents accepted their responsibility over the completed projects for their onward operation and maintenance.
For 20 days, the residents underwent training and work for the completion of projects aimed at adapting to and mitigating the effects of climate change in their localities. These projects include vegetable gardens and small farm reservoirs, which are eyed to help in addressing food insecurity and water insufficiency in their communities.

Prior to the turnover of the projects, the residents also underwent a sustainability planning workshop where they identified strategies for the long-term sustainability of their projects.
Meanwhile, the local government of Angono, particularly the offices of the social welfare and development, disaster risk reduction and management, and agriculture, pledged continuous assistance to the residents to ensure that these projects remain operational and are able to help with the needs of the communities.
The Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) capacitates and engages residents in developing and sustaining projects that would help address food insecurity and water insufficiency in their communities.
