April 29, 2025 – Seven residents of the Haven for the Elderly underwent free eye surgery procedures at the Tzu Chi Eye Center in Sta. Mesa City last April 21-22, 2025.
The said procedures, which include cataract extractions and conjunctival cyst removals, are sponsored by the Tzu Chi Medical Foundation as a result of the foundation’s medical mission conducted at the center last October 2024.
The Haven for the Elderly, located in Tanay, Rizal, is a facility managed by the DSWD Field Office IV-A that provides residential care to senior citizens who are abandoned, neglected, and / or unattached.

According to Jocelyn Reyes, nurse at the Haven for the Elderly, restoring the vision of the residents helps the residents fully enjoy their daily activities such as interacting with fellow senior citizens and taking care of their personal needs inside the center.
Reyes added that additional residents of the center are being lined up for the same procedures.
Meanwhile, the management and staff of the Haven for the Elderly are grateful to the Tzu Chi Medical Foundation not only for the free medical services but also for their care and concern to the residents of the center. [with reports from JCReyes]
