March 13, 2025 – A total of 1,965 senior citizens from the town of Rosario, Cavite received their cash subsidies under the DSWD’s Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens for the first quarter of 2025 last March 8, 2025.

The payout of cash subsidies was conducted in seven clustered venues covering the 20 barangays in the said town.

Each beneficiary received PhP 3,000 or equivalent to PhP 1,000 per month in accordance with the mandate under the Republic Act 11916 or the Act Increasing the Social Pension of Senior Citizens.

The release of the cash subsidies for senior citizens in Rosario is currently led by the local government unit (LGU) through a transfer of fund scheme from the DSWD Field Office IV-A. Upon completion of the payout, the local government is required to submit their full liquidation report to the DSWD.

The transfer of funds to LGUs is being implemented by the Department to ensure fast and more efficient distribution of cash subsidies to intended beneficiaries across the region. It also helps promote the involvement of the local government units and the local senior citizen associations in the program implementation.

The validation of beneficiaries, though, remain as the responsibility of the DSWD, but is being conducted in coordination with the concerned local government unit. [with reports from AMTortona]
