As part of the continuous efforts of the DSWD in providing immediate assistance to affected families during calamities, the Field Office IV-A operates a total of 72 warehouses across the region this 2024. This includes 14 satellite warehouses, which began operation only this year.
These warehouses serve as storage facilities of prepositioned food and non-food items intended as augmentation support to local government units (LGUs) in times of calamities.
Of the 72 warehouses, 67 are managed by partner-LGUs, who have an existing Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the DSWD. Based on the MOA, these LGUs can utilize the prepositioned relief goods during calamities in coordination with the Field Office.
“Sa pagkakaroon ng maraming warehouses sa iba’t ibang lokasyon sa rehiyon, mas mabilis tayong nakapagpapadala ng tulong dahil mas malapit na sa mga komunidad ang ating warehouse,” shared Jessie Jerusalem, head of the Regional Resource Operation Section of the DSWD Field Office IV-A’s Disaster Response and Management Division.
In the previous years, the Field Office operated only two regional warehouses in Dasmariñas City and Gen. Mariano Alvarez, Cavite, which makes the hauling of relief goods to various locations in the region a challenge during emergencies.
Today, the Field Office has warehouses in six localities in Cavite, 10 in Laguna, 11 in Batangas, six in Rizal, and 34 in Quezon. Each warehouse can accommodate 1,000 to 1,500 prepositioned family food packs and 100 non-food items at a given time.#
