Twenty residents of the National Training School for Boys (NTSB) completed a one-day skills training demonstration in barista and basic cooking last October 23 in Tanay, Rizal. This training is initiated by the Jose Fabella Memorial School – Tanay Unit and sponsored by BNK ‘Budbod ni Nanay Kaling’ Cafe and Resto.
The residents, who are ALS and senior high school students, were capacitated in preparing different types of beverages, using espresso machines, and cooking various dishes.
According to Rejane Obusan, social worker at the NTSB, skills training activities such as this are very important in helping in the transformation and rehabilitation of the residents. The new skills they acquire during their stay in the center will enable them to engage in income-generating activities once they are reintegrated to their respective families.
The NTSB is a facility managed by the DSWD that provides transformative and rehabilitative care to children-in-conflict with the law. [with reports from RRObusan]
