Thirty Dumagat households, who are beneficiaries of the DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), from Brgy. Puray in Montalban, Rizal started their community projects along solid waste management and gardening.
From July 8-19, these households had been engaged in various activities including building and installing waste segregation bins, clean-up along the community, and cultivation of plots for their garden in the said barangay.
This 11-day program is part of the support service interventions of the DSWD to the indigenous peoples (IP) who are beneficiaries of the 4Ps. This aims to help reduce the environmental vulnerabilities of the sector as well as develop IP associations who work together to increase their livelihood assets.
Each Dumagat household received PhP 4,675 for their participation in this cash-for-work intervention.
These IP households will also undergo leadership training and be guided towards developing their micro-enterprise for their families’ development. [with reports from FKVIzmanos / OLDulayII]
