Residents of four barangays in Patnanungan, Quezon completed community projects addressing food insufficiency and water scarcity as part of the DSWD’s Risk Resiliency Program – Cash for Training and Work thru Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) in partnership with the local government unit.

Last June 4-5, the 166 residents from barangays Poblacion, Patnanungan Norte, Kilogan, and Amaga evaluated and assessed the completed projects that include water harvesting, hydroponics, and communal gardening projects.

The Patnanungan LGU supported the residents through the provision of materials such as seedlings, fertilizers, water pumps, pipes, and drums as well as uniform and food during the program implementation. The LGU also assisted the residents in establishing an organization for the management of the projects.

As part of the Project LAWA at BINHI, these residents underwent a 20-day program that consists of training on climate change mitigation and disaster preparedness and participation in the completion of the said projects. Each of these beneficiaries will receive PhP 9,400 each for their participation in the said program. [with reports from MJRRejano]
