Since the beginning of July, 2,258 young learners from various municipalities in Quezon Province and in Bacoor City, Cavite are undergoing a tutoring program on reading under the DSWD’s Tara Basa! Tutoring Program.

The said program is a new  program of the DSWD that aims to help improve the reading proficiency of elementary students who are struggling to read or are non-readers. This is done through the deployment of 2nd to 4th year college students and parents as tutors and youth development workers.

In the CALABARZON Region, this program is currently being implemented in Quezon Province and in Bacoor City with a total of 368 tutors, 110 youth development workers, and 2,141 parents as partners.

The tutoring program will run for a total of 20 days, from July 1 to 26, where deployed college students will receive PhP 520 per day and parents will receive PhP 235 per day.#
