LA total of 315 community projects have been implemented in 16 municipalities in Quezon Province under the Department of Social Welfare and Development championed program, the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) during the year 2018.

Among these projects are farm to market roads, water system projects, health centers, day care centers, and school buildings.  There were also livelihood- focused projects implemented such as water refilling stations, solar dryer and rice mill and fiberglass boat fabrication. The total cost of these community sub projects is Php237,963,100.00.

These projects also provided employment to at least 10,560 individuals and had benefitted at least 20,000 individuals who are affected by the community-identified needs being responded.

At least 54,300 local residents had been engaged in the decision-making process and implementation activities through the community-driven approach of program.

Based on the report of DSWD Field Office IV-A, the other engagements of the local residents in the program are decision-making in the barangay assemblies and finalization of the Poverty Reduction Action Plans in 543 barangays.

The Kalahi-CIDSS is a government poverty alleviation program, which applies a community-driven development (CDD) approach.  This helps poor communities identify challenges around reducing poverty and helps them make informed decisions on a range of locally-identified options for development. The approach also gives the local community control of their resources to address local poverty and at the same time, builds the capacities of both state (including local governments) and civil society stakeholders to provide assistance and respond to calls for support from poor communities in local development initiatives.
