The DSWD provided hot meals to 165,413 children in 4,428 day care centers in the CALABARZON Region for the year 2014 under the Supplementary Feeding Program.

Aside from these, 609,237 children in elementary schools were also served in the Region under the School Based Supplementary Feeding program.  Both programs aim to address the “short-term-hunger syndrome” among children and improved the nutritional status of the said children.

Under the said programs, the children were provided hot meals, in addition to the regular meals at home for a period of 120 days.  The parents of these children were also given trainings on how to prepared nutritious foods meals which could prepare in their respective homes at a low cost.

Overall, the Department had provided a funding of Php284.97 Million for Supplementary Feeding Program for day care children and PhP209.74 Million for elementary school children.
