July 17, 2025 – The DSWD Field Office IV-A and the local government of Lian, Batangas are working with local farmers in the municipality for the supply of agricultural products for the implementation of the Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) this year.

Last July 7, 2025, local farmers who are members of the Binubusan Multipurpose Cooperative (BMPC) delivered the first set of agricultural products for the start of the 120-day feeding program in various child development centers in the locality.

The said cooperative, composed of 64 local farmers, has been linked through the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program that promotes the use of negotiated procurement – community participation in the implementation of the Department’s SFP. This procurement modality engages community-based organizations not only to address malnutrition but also to strengthen the livelihood of local food producers.

“Hindi kami mapapahiya sa kalidad ng  mga produkto na idedeliver namin sa mga day care centers, sinisiguro din namin na ang bigas ay premium quality,” shared Raffy Hernandez, the president of the BPMC.

The BPMC is set to deliver agricultural products in batches all throughout the 120-day period.

In the town of Lian, a total of 850 children enrolled in child development centers will be benefitting from the said feeding program. [with reports from LYENavarro]
