July 15, 2025 – A total of 150 residents of Lobo, Batangas committed to work towards the sustainability of their completed projects under the DSWD’s Risk Resiliency Program thru Project LAWA at BINHI. During the Sustainability Workshop  conducted last July 9-10, the residents crafted their community action plans to ensure that their projects will remain operational and be of continuous use for their communities.

Prior to the workshop, these residents, from barangays Olo-olo, Jaybanga, Apar, and San Nicolas, completed four community gardens, rehabilitated two fish ponds, and established one oyster farm.

Included in the action plans committed by the residents are the regular visitation of their projects, scheduling of tasks among the residents, and planning for income-generating activities for their projects.

Meanwhile, the local government, particularly the Municipal Agriculture Office and the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, commit to closely monitor and assist the residents with their community action plans.

The Project LAWA at BINHI (Local Adaptation to Water Access and Breaking Insufficiency through Nutritious Harvest for the Impoverished) capacitates and engages residents in developing and sustaining projects that would help address food insecurity and water insufficiency in their communities. The program is implemented through a cash-for-training and cash-for-work scheme to also help residents gain a temporary source of income for their families. [with reports from JSEspinosa]
