February 26, 2026 – At least 100 college students and 300 young learners and their parents will soon benefit from the DSWD’s Tara Basa! Tutoring Program after the formal signing of partnership agreement between the DSWD, the city government of Cabuyao, and the Pamantasan ng Cabuyao last February 19, 2026.

Under the said program, the DSWD will engage college students from Pamantasan ng Cabuyao in conducting reading tutorial sessions to incoming Grade 2 students who are struggling readers or Nanay-Tatay sessions to their parents for 20 days. As part of their engagement with the program, these college students will receive an incentive, which they can use to support their educational needs.

“Lubos po ang pasasalamat namin sa DSWD sa pagtitiwala sa aming pamantasan bilang katuwang sa mahalagang adhikain na ito. Ang proyekto na ito ay patunay na kapag ang pamahalaan at akademya ay nagkakaisa, mas maraming buhay ang mabibigyan ng pag asa at oportunidad,” shared Dr. Roberto Ranola, the president of the Pamantasan ng Cabuyao, in his message during the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).

Meanwhile, Cabuyao City Mayor Dennis Felipe Hain shared his gratitude to the Department for helping address the literacy problems in the locality, which is also one of the main priorities of the local government.

“Excited ako sa programa na ito, at napakaswerte ninyo [referring to the college students]. Dahil national government ang nagpondo, ibig sabihin, madadagdag natin ang pondo [ng LGU] sa mga programa dito sa pamantasan,” added Mayor Hain.

Other than Cabuyao City, the DSWD Field Office IV-A has also recently signed partnership agreements for the implementation of the program in the municipalities of Sta Cruz, and Cavinti, also in Laguna Province and the City of Calaca, Batangas Province.#
