A total of 25 residents of the National Training School for Boys (NTSB) have recently completed the shielded metal arc welding training in partnership with the local government of Tanay, Rizal Province.

The NTSB is a residential care facility managed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office IV-A for children-in-conflict with the law (CICLs). It provides protection and parental care to CICLs to help them through rehabilitation in a residential setting and prepare them for successful adjustment with their family and community after discharge.

Ellen Belmonte, social worker in charge in the NTSB, shared that opportunities like this are continuously being provided to the residents as part of their rehabilitation and preparation for their discharge in their respective families and communities.

“The children are encouraged to use this opportunity to enhance their skills so that when they go home, they can be able to apply the new skills to help themselves and their families,” said Belmonte.

The residents underwent a one-month training, which was provided by the Eastern Star Institute of Science and Technology in San Mateo.

The said residents belong to the third batch of trainees provided with the shielded metal arc welding.

Previously, a total of 48 residents have underwent the same kind of training.# with reports from AMBGangan
