From a high of 673 evacuation centers opened as a preventive measure to the dangers that maybe caused by Typhoon Ruby in Region IV-A, only a total of 70 centers remain open with 2,411 families in 3 of the 5 provinces of the region.

Based on the 2 PM December 10 report of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Field Office IV-A, the said centers are located in the provinces of Batangas (5 evacuation centers), Laguna (19) and Quezon (46).  More evacuation centers are expected to close within the next 24 hours as the weather is expected to improve further as Typhoon Ruby exits the country.

The total number of families inside evacuation centers peaked at 21,899 with 95,5599 individuals.  This occurred during the preemptive evacuations conducted by various local government units whose localities were reported to be affected hit by Typhoon Ruby.

To date, there are only 21 damaged houses in the region reported with 4 totally damaged and 17 partially damaged.  These said houses are all in Quezon Province.

For the Typhoon Ruby Disaster operation, the Department has provided a total 45,240 family food packs to affected families across the region alone.  The said food packs have a total worth of Php17,964,912.00.

DSWD Field Office IV-A will continue monitoring the status of the remaining evacuation centers and provide relief goods if deemed necessary.***
