The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) calls for students of arts, film and media to join the Convergence Documentary Film Festival 2014, a documentary-making competition highlighting the impact of the agency’s poverty reduction and social protection programs to the lives of the beneficiaries.
The contest is open for students and/or members of student organizations of a university who must form a production team of at least five members composed of a director, writer, cameraman, technical director and researcher.
Interested teams must submit accomplished entry form with cover letter and CV of each production team member to the Social Marketing Unit of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, DSWD Central Office, Constitution Hills, Quezon City. Deadline of submission of requirements is on June 20, 2014.
All subject of the documentary film will be based on pre-selected stories prepared by the Department. The selected teams will be sent to different regions implementing the DSWD programs inclusive of fare and board and lodging.
The grand winner will receive Php60,000.00 while 1st to 4th runner-up winners will receive Php45,000.000, Php30,000.00, Php20,000.00 and Php10,000.00. Other prizes include Best Editing, Best Storytelling and People’s Choice, which will each be awarded Php10,000.00.
Last year, students from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, De La Salle University-College of St. Benilde and Lyceum of the Philippines University have participated and competed in the said film festival. The universities have featured the Itik’s Story from Region 6 (1st Prize Winner), Adda Namnama from Cordillera Administrative Region (2nd Prize) and Bente from Region IV-A (3rd Prize) respectively.***
