A total of 269,368 families in the CALABARZON Region are now benefitting from DSWD’s Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program. With the latest expansion of the program at the end of year 2012, the program now serves qualified poor families and cities in all five CALABARZON provinces.

The recent expansion, referred to as Set 6, has registered a total of 107,835 families upon validation and registration of DSWD during the last quarter of 2012. These new beneficiaries come from 99 cities and municipalities in the region where three cities (Cabuyao, Bacoor and Imus) and 49 municipalities are implementing Pantawid Pamilya for the first time.

New Pantawid municipalities, on the other hand, include Kawit, Silang and Carmona in Cavite Province; Sto. Tomas, Malvar, Taal, Mabini and Cuenca in Batangas Province; Los Baños, Cabuyao, San Pedro, Sta. Cruz and Pila in Laguna Province; Candelaria, Pagbilao, Lucban and Dolores in Quezon, Province; and Taytay, Cainta and Angono in Rizal Province.

The local chief executives of these new expansion cities and municipalities have signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Department in the implementation of the program last December 2012. The MOA will run for five years, which is the duration of Pantawid Pamilya, unless otherwise revoked by any of the parties.

The MOA clarifies the responsibilities of the local government in terms of the implementation of the program. As stipulated in the Agreement, the city or municipal government must ensure the availability and adequacy of the education and health services within the duration of the program, conduct regular monitoring and provide technical assistance to DSWD staff and Pantawid parent leaders for effective program implementation.***
